Howard Signs On To WXDX 106.7FM, The X!
The Howard Stern Show added another top 20 market Tuesday (11/7), with the addition of Pittsburgh's 106.7 WXDX FM. The X, as it's known, is an Alternative radio station and is now part of the ever-growing list of Alternative radio stations now picking up the Stern show. In the early days of Howard's syndication, Classic Rock was the format of choice for stations that carried the show. With the increased popularity of Modern or New Rock, stations are pairing Howard and new music and it's working perfectly. Pittsburgh is the 19th largest market and that now places Howard in 14 of the top 20 markets.
WXDX 106.7 FM is owned by Secret Communications, also the owner of WDVE FM, a very popular Rock station in Pittsburgh. The WDVE morning team of Paulsen and Krenn, have long been one of Pittsburgh's most poplular pairings. This makes for an interesting situation since Secret Communications has basically fed their 'DVE morning team to the lions. Stern fans know that Howard goes after the top morning shows hard and fast. He certainly won't let up on Paulsen and Krenn just because they work for the same company. Tommorrow's press conference should shed some more light on Howard's newest market. I'll keep you posted!....
