Joel 's Performance Missing From Birthday Show!
The newsletter has learned that a segment from the birthday
show containing a live birthday greeting and song from Billy Joel never
made it on the air during Friday's taped show.
While performing at the Nassau Coliseum, Billy Joel said to his audience
that he wanted to wish fellow Long Islander, Howard Stern, "a happy
birthday". After Van Halen appeared via satellite, Joel appeared on
a large screen behind Howard and Robin as he sang a song off his new album.
Speculation as to why the segment never aired is that there may have
been technical problems with the video and audio feeds.
This may explain why listeners were subjected to several taped bits
that were inserted into the show to obviously kill time, something not done
at the birthday show.
