Stern Show Starts Austin!

As reported here first (3/18), the Howard Stern show can now be heard in Austin, Texas, on 98.9 KUTZ FM. KUTZ is currently a Rock station that is in the process of moving towards a harder Rock format with a mix of mostly new music.

The Stern show will be displacing the Sharkman, who will be moving to evenings. Austin is the 54th largest radio market with a population of almost 800,000 people and is the 25th city to currently air Howard's radio show.

On Thursday's show (4/4), a press conference was held at KUTZ while Howard was live on the air. Some 30 plus members of the local media and Gary's brother, Tony, were on-hand to talk to the King about his entry into his third Texas city. After fielding questions about competitors, the Selena controversy, the warrant out for his arrest in Texas because of the Selena controversy, and Gary's brother, Howard ended the press conference by telling the program director of KUTZ, "We're very happy to be on your station."
