Bye-Bye Bady!
Doug Bady, 31, the guy in the wheelchair who hated Jerry Lewis and
one of the judges on the New Year's Eve PPV special, died Friday (8/23)
after being checked into Tompkins Medical Center in Beverly Hills, CA,
for what was described as abdominal pains.
During this morning's show, Doug's long-time friend and handler, Dave,
called into the show to break the news. Initially, Howard and the gang
were skeptical but after talking to Dave and having Gorilla call the hospital,
it was found to be true.
Bady came to the Stern show spotlight when the late Sam Kinison brought
him on the show during the height of his struggle with Jerry Lewis and
The Muscular Dystrophy Association. During that time, Bady became very
vocal about the charity, summing up his experience with, "I never
saw dime one".
Doug will be best remembered on the Stern show for the time he was
placed in a crate and put on the sidewalk in New York City. As people walked
by, he would yell out for help and the results were often hilarious.
