Elephant Boy Speaks Out On Being Banned!
"When
Howard plays a joke on somebody it's a very funny morning. My belief is
that if they can dish it out, they can take it." That's
what my good friend Fred the Elephant Boy told me last May in an exclusive
interview while still banned from the show.
As Fred tells it, the idea for the scam came about when he was at Philly
Babe's house and that it was the idea of another chat room regular, Fla
Fla Floosie. When I asked Fred why he would do something like that, he
told me, "My only objective was to make good
radio. I knew what I was doing and I thought it would make for interesting
radio, and that's the main reason why I did it. A good practical joke is
elaborate. Any idiot can put a "Kick Me" sign on your back."
As for Janks' part in helping to expose the scam, Fred told me, "I think he (Janks) spoke up out of concern since
he didn't know the whole story."
As for his being banned from the show, Fred insists that he's had a
great run on the show and that his life will go on if that's the case.
He's just a little confused about one thing. "It
was just a friggin' joke! Where is everybody's sense of humor?"
To Fred's credit, he tells me that he has found another girlfriend
who he has been seeing for several weeks and that he wants to "keep
it private". "She's not a fan of the show,"
he added. Pictured above with Fred is his last girlfriend, Mary, who now
lives in the Cleveland area.
