OTHER INFO: The station calls itself "The Pirate Radio Station". Its WTTB, 97.7 FM, and broadcasts from Bonifay, FL. The bigger cities it reaches include Panama City, FL, Dothan, AL, and Fort Walton Beach, FL (barely). The station was running promos all weekend before Howard premeired saying things like "Hurricane Howard is coming" and "The new Howard 97" . The funny thing about this station is that it has no DJs. It just plays good tunes (most of the time) and an occasional commercial thrown in. About a year ago when hurricane Opal came through, it knocked them off of the air. They were off the air for 7 months! I had given up on them until I heard them again back in June. I thought they had closed up shop!

There are two other Panama City stations that play some sort of Rock music, although I can't pick them up unless I'm down at the beach. They are Rock 103 and some Rock and Roll Oldies station around 96 on the dial. These two guys named BC & Bubba (the Love Sponge) used to work for 97.7 when they had DJs but now I think they work for Rock 103 in the morning. They are Howard big imitators.

It will be interesting to see what kind of reaction Howard gets down there. The part of lower Alabama and the Florida panhandle where he reaches is VERY religious. Those people give new meaning to the phrase "Bible Thumping". In the town where we live, almost everyone goes to church 3 times a week. My wife and I never go to church, and they think we are atheist! We are the "Yankees" in town.

There is one television station in Dothan, AL. At 12:00 PM weekdays, they have the Daily Farm Report, where some stupid southerner (as I like to call them) with a thick accent and overhauls talks about farming. Talk about entertainment!

Special Thanks To: Bryan Dunn
