Stern's New Studio Starts Up Slowly!
After eight plus years of broadcasting from an outdated and cramped
studio on Madison Ave, Howard's show began broadcasting from it's new studio
on West 57th street in mid-November.
Much like Howard's first broadcast on K-Rock over 11 years ago, the
first show from the new digs was not without it's problems. "I'm
home-sick for the other place", Howard joked this morning.
Like anything new, there are going to be some adjustments and problems
that need to be worked out. The phones, Howard's microphone, the color
of the studio, and the staging area were just some of the things that needed
immediate attention in Howard's opinion. Security also became an issue
right off the bat when a fan was let upstairs without permission. One thing
that was working properly today however, was Tom Chiusano's delay button,
which was in heavy use just like old times.
The new studio does offer several new features the old one lacked. The
stage area, for one. Cheap Trick, Bush, and Stone Temple Pilots had graced
the show's new stage area by year's end.
And even though there is a private bathroom for Howard, which he has
used to administer TUCS to his swollen and itchy butt, he has promised
not to take a dump there for fear of smelling up the studio.
As time went on, the bugs seemed to get worked out and with all the new
improvements the new studio has to offer, Stern fans can expect nothing
less than great radio in the new year.
